ARTS INTERNATIONAL
ARTISTS EXPLORATION FUND
PROGRAM : Enables
individual U.S. performing artists to pursue opportunities abroad that
further their artistic development. Grants ranging from $1,000 to $3,000
will support artists pursuing a wide variety of activities abroad,
including the development or expansion of creative relationships with
artists and art organizations; the exploration of artistic forms; or the
creation of new work, either individually or in collaboration with
artists abroad.

U.S.-MEXICO FUND FOR
CULTURE
PROGRAM : Cultural
Contact뭩 mission is to foster the creation, preservation and promotion
of the artistic and cultural heritage of Mexico and the United States,
by encouraging communication through mutual understanding, and by
nurturing a close artistic collaboration between the societies of both
countries, within a global context. Through its program of financial
support for artistic projects, Cultural Contact promotes a model of
international participation that seeks to accomplish the following
objectives:
Promote artistic
excellence, creativity and innovation.
Foster the presentation
of each country뭩 artistic and creative work in the other country.
Engage diverse audiences
and communities by sensitizing them to the artistic expressions in both
countries.
Expand the opportunities
for growth and encourage the professionalization of artists, presenters,
producers, and arts administrators in both countries.
Establish lasting
artistic exchange policies and collaboration strategies between the U.S.
and Mexico in the short, medium and long-terms.
Enhance knowledge and
understanding of both countries?cultures, locally and globally.
Promote an international
model of support for arts and culture among institutions from different
sectors (public, private, and philanthropic).
Generate,
internationally, the creation, consolidation and organization of markets
for the arts from United States and Mexico.
Optimize human,
financial, artistic and material resources in the binational cultural
environment.
DEADLINE : Annual
open round of applications starts Mid-January and deadline is Mid-April.

U.S./JAPAN CREATIVE
ARTISTS' PROGRAM
PROGRAM : A
partnership of the NEA and the Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission (JUSFC),
allows American artists to live and work in Japan for six months.
Artists from the visual, media, performing, literary, and design arts
are encouraged to apply through a sponsoring not-for-profit
organization. Grants normally will be awarded at Commission meetings
held in April and September. Deadlines for receipt of proposals at the
Commission뭩 Washington office are 5 PM March 1 and August 1
respectively. If March 1 or August 1 falls on a weekend, the deadline
for receipt of hard copy will be the following Monday. Proposals
received after these dates will be retained in the Commission office for
review in the next cycle. Please see Web site for details.

STUDIO ART CENTERS
INTERNATIONAL (SACI)
PROGRAM
: SACI is a full-time U.S. college-affliated studio art based in
Florence, Italy. The International Incentive Awards have been
established by SACI to encourage participation in study abroad by
under-represented groups, particularly ethnic minorites. Applicants
should be either sophomores or juniors with demonstrated interest in the
studio arts or art history with a minimum 3.0 G.P.A. Up to two
scholarships of $1,500 will be awarded for the Fall and Spring
semesters. Cooper Union students are also eligigble for a $2,000
scholarship. The candidate must be admitted to the SACI Abroad Program
in order to be considered for either scholarship.

31, 2005 for Fall 2005; October 1, 2005 for Spring 2006
